IT'S ALL CHANGE AT THE WESSEX
Results of extraordinary general meeting on lOth May 2006.
It is very heartening to see the response to the previous newsletter which asked if there was anyone willing to take the club forward, by the number of people who turned up at the meeting at The Bateau. Typically, however they didn't all turn up at the same time! Some even thought they would fit a game of golf in before hand.
As a result however I am pleased to say that the following people offered to form a committee:
Terry Crump is willing to be Chairman, Paul Watts is willing to do Contests,
Dave Weight will continue with his brief of dealings with the council on artificial reef Issues.
Gary Hart was volunteered by Russ Simmonds to do Memberships, and Russ offered to help him. They will also be in charge of the club bank account as the Membership Secretary needs easy access to the chequebook and paying in book.
Jude Farmer, a new member has offered to fix up the website.
David Wright has offered his services to the committee and it also appears that Gary Knights would like to get .involved with kids. We hope that is not to do with photographing them and posting it on the web.
Other items talked about was a desire to have closer links to the independent surf shops in the area. We were fortunate enough to have Shaun and Beaver from Sorted turn up and they very kindly offered to issue this newsletter for us. Thanks to you both.
Well that's it from me. I shall still remain a club member and will give anyone of the above my advice and assistance.
Kim Skuse.
A BIG THANK-YOU
With all the changes that have now taken place this is a great time to thank Kim and Aussie Mick for all their huge efforts over the past few years~ if it wasn't for the hard work of these boys the club would not be around today ... so big up the massive!!!!!
The future of any club is the kids, so we need to bear in mind the meeting venues need to be grommet friendly and central. The club needs new blood with new ideas and I'm sure Terry & Gary & Fluff are already thinking of events to attract the young guns! ! ! ! !
TUBE NEWS
This is the fITst newsletter for sometime and it needs new ideas, any trips you've been on photos, stories or anything that may be funny or of general interest, or if you just wish to be in the next issue of Tube News send it to us at info@sortedsurfshop.co.uk and we'll make sure it gets forwarded to the new editor. On that point if you would like to be the new editor please contact Terry Crump or Gary Hart and I'm sure they will assist you to getting the new issue out!!
BOSCOMBE REEF
A recent email from the council seafront services department informed us that as the deadline passed no challenge was made to the proposed developments, so it now means that it's a go!!! I Know it's hard to believe but it's now 100% guaranteed to go ahead, that's right Boscombe will become "Bos Vegas" bright lights and a reef break. The timing should be as follows: Seafront develoPlnent and Spa Village build to start Sept/Oct 06 Reef Development to start construction June 07 completing by Sept 07.......So in 18 months we could be getting barrelled week in, week out....we live in hope!!!!! Dont' go getting greedy though as the Police are jumping on the band wagon with the new Reef Police Division. They will be making sure there are no drop ins or snaking in the water, you have been warned!!!!!!!

SORTED SURF SHOP NEWS
The shop in conjunction with the Wessex Surf Club will look to hold a contest covering Groms, Open, Masters & Bodyboard categories in early 07
We have also spoken to a few other clubs around the West Country for inter club comps. This should keep our boys on their toes.
Sennen are keen to visit our shores for a comp and a few beers then for us to visit them for the same. We will be passing contacts to Fluff to get things rolling .
...... And remember as a Wessex Club member you are entitled to a 10% discount on all purchases at Sorted Surf Shop
All the best.....See you in the Surf Shaun & Sean (Beaver)
